August 25th 2008

Members Present: Phil Starr, Ralph Palmer, John Vander Meulen, Keith Bouwkamp, Matt Bonzo, Jeannette Abbott

Guests: Robert Hall

Meeting:

            A         Pledge of Allegiance

                        Meeting was called to order at 8:05 by Phil Starr.  Pledge of Allegiance was cited.

C.                 Approval of Agenda

Starr presented the agenda for August 25th 2008 as written.  Motion made (Bouwkamp) and supported (Bell) to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

D.                Approval of Minutes for July 28^th  ‘08

A.                 Correspondence Received

Nothing 

B.                 Township Representative

John Vander Meulen gave the Planning Commission an update on the Township Board. 

C.                 Information and Inquiry

Nothing.

D.                Zoning Administrator

Passed out to the PC members the following documents; Act No. 12 of Public Acts of 2008, the Michigan Planning Enabling Act, Act 33 of 2008, Michigan Zoning Guidebook for Citizens and Local Officials and the Michigan Planning Guidebook published in May 2008. Robert gave a brief overview and asked that the PC members review prior to next meeting in order to have a meaningful discussion.

Old Business

A.                 Wind Power Generators

Phil Starr recommended the Michigan Land Use Guidelines for Sitting Wind Energy Systems be studied by the PC members.

B.                 Work On Master Plan

a.      Farm Land and Open Space Preservation

Reviewed “Preservation of Open Land and Farm Land” document submitted by Matt Bonzo.  It was agreed to add the segment to the Master Plan

b.      III B – 3&4 Pollution Prevention and Water Levels

Reviewed Section II B-3, “Pollution Preservation” and “Water Levels” for the Master Plan and the text reviewed will be added to the Master Plan.

c.       Road Plan

Existing text reviewed and will remain unchanged in the draft of the Master Plan.

New Business

Motion made by (Matt Bonzo) and supported (Keith Bouwkamp) to adjourn at 9:15 PM.  Motion carried.
