Members Present: John Vander Meulen, Matt Bonzo, Janet Dravk, Ross Harwood, Ralph Palmer, Keith Bouwkamp

Meeting:

            A         Pledge of Allegiance

                        Meeting was called to order at 8:00 by Matt Bonzo.  Pledge of Allegiance was cited.

B.                 Roll Call

All present except Robert Buckowing

C.                 Approval of Agenda

Motion made (Bouwkamp) and supported (Palmer) to approve the agenda as written. Motion carried.

D.                 Approval of Minutes for November 23rd, ‘09

Motion made (Bouwkamp) and supported (Dravk) to approve the minutes for November 23rd as written; Motion carried.

E.                 Election of Officers

a)      Chairman

Motion made (Bouwkamp) and supported (Dravk) and (Palmer) for Matt Bonzo to remain Chairman; Motion carried; All Ayes.

b)      Vice Chairman

Motion made (Bouwkamp) and supported (Dravk) and (Vander Meulen) for Ross Harwood to be Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission; Motion carried; All Ayes

c)      Secretary

Motion made (Bouwkamp) and supported (Dravk) and (Vander Meulen) for Ralph Palmer to be Secretary of the Planning Commission; Motion carried; All Ayes.

Reports

A.                 Correspondence Received

West Michigan Strategic Alliance sent a training course offer on how to manage interns.

B.                 Township Representative

John Vander Meulen gave the Planning Commission an update on the Township Board.  

C.                 Information and Inquiry Including Public Comment

None present.

D.                 Zoning Administrator

a)      Inserts related to Chapters 4&5

Distributed for reference only to the PC members the following information;

·         a letter from 2006 to former Township Supervisor Richard Bergman on Lot to Width ratio requirements form the offices of Law Weathers & Richardson,

·         a letter from, LSL Planning to the Ensley Township PC from 2005,

·         a letter from Brenda Moore, Professional Planner and former LSL Planning employee, offering assistance on the Master Plan and any Zoning Ordinance issue for a fee at the rate of $45/hr.

Old Business

A.                 Internship - Discussion

Board approved the use of an intern by PC

B.                 Zoning Ordinance, Chapters 4 & 5 Discussion

Relative to Chapter sections 4.0 through 4.99; PC does not plan to change or update this section from the current state.

Relative to Chapter section 5.01; Needs more discussion on the use of solar panels, wind turbines and outdoor wood burning stoves.

Relative to Chapter section 5.02; Needs more discussion on internet and cell towers and self storage businesses and public buildings

Relative to Chapter section 5.03; PC does not plan to change or update this section from the current state.

Motion made by (Palmer) and supported (Bouwkamp) to adjourn at 9:35 PM.  Motion carried.
