Ensley Township Planning Commission

October 26th, 2009

Members Present: John Vander Meulen, Matt Bonzo, Janet Dravk, Ross Harwood, Ralph Palmer, Keith Bouwkamp

Guests: ZA present No members of public

Meeting:

            A         Pledge of Allegiance

                        Meeting was called to order at 8:01 by Matt Bonzo.  Pledge of Allegiance was cited.

B.                 Roll Call

Robert Buckowing absent

C.                 Approval of Agenda

Motion made (Dravk) and supported (Vander Meulen) to approve the agenda as written. Motion carried.

D.                 Approval of Minutes for September 28th, ‘09

Motion made (Palmer) and supported (Bouwkamp) to approve the minutes for September 28th as written with the correction of the spelling for “intern” in Old Business section C; Motion carried.

Reports

A.                 Correspondence Received

Matt Bonzo reminded that the MTA conference will be in January in Grand Rapids and any PC member interested could attend.

B.                 Township Representative

John Vander Meulen gave the Planning Commission an update on the Township Board.  

C.                 Information and Inquiry Including Public Comment

There are two PC members whose term runs out at end of this year.  Matt Bonzo pointed out the procedure for any member who would like to be consider for an additional term.

D.                 Zoning Administrator

1.                   ZA has become aware that the Governor is threatening to use a line item veto to stop funding to the Michigan State University Extension office.

2.                   ZA gave a copy of the Newaygo master plan to Matt Bonzo.

Old Business

A.                 Internship

Matt read a proposed job description for the NON-PAID proposed internship.  The internship would report to the chairmen of the Planning Commission, attend monthly meetings and perform duties as outlined by the chair and the planning commission.

New Business

A.                 November Meeting

Matt asked PC members to consider a plan for the coming year to review the ordinances of the Township in the November meeting.

Motion made by (Bouwkamp) and supported (Vander Meulen) to adjourn at 8:40 PM.  Motion carried.
