The
regular meeting of the Ensley Township Board was called
to order by Supervisor Bergman at 8:00 PM. The meeting
was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and
a prayer. Board members present were Richard Bergman,
Cynthia Harwood, Faye Folkema, Steve Knox, and John
VanderMeulen. There were 12 guests.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes were approved
without objection.

Receipts # 4266-4287 were used totaling $10,513.90. The
treasurer’s report was approved without objection.
Police Report: Deputy Wade had 48 patrol hours within
Ensley for the month of July. He had 10 complaints, 1
arrest, 10 citations, 16 warnings, and 8 property
checks.
Building Inspector: There were three building permits
and four electrical permits for the month.
Planning Commission: The public hearing for the eave
overhang will be at the August meeting. The County
Planning Commission approved the Dangerous Building
Ordinance. There was a motion by Bergman/VanderMeulen
to adopt the dangerous building ordinance. All
Affirmed. Motion carried.
Zoning Administrator: There were five zoning
compliances and one demolition permit. Robert Johnson
is working on the private road maintenance agreement.
County Commissioner: He was not in attendance.

Unfinished Business:
1.
Cemetery Markers: Mr. Ellick presented five
veteran markers that he got to show the board. There
was a motion by VanderMeulen/Knox to purchase 40
aluminum markers at $11.50 each from Solon Township and
return the brass markers. All ayes. Motion carried.
New
Business:
1.
Cemetery Tree Damage: There was a motion to pay
R.C.W. for tree work by Knox/VanderMeulen. All ayes.
Motion carried. Wright will have a bid at next months
meeting for four trees at Crandall and ½ of an already
fallen tree at North Ensley. Supervisor will discuss
trees with Sexton.
2.
Treasurer’s Internet Connection: Folkema has
shared internet with the town hall for past few years.
This is no longer working well. Motion by Folkema/Knox
to have Verduin set up another account for $10.00 per
month. All ayes. Motion carried.
3.
Old Computer Donation: The Township may not
donate old computers until we try to sell. We will put
on the web site and in the next newsletter that they are
for sale or take bids on them.
Bills: Checks #10215-10251 were used totaling
$89,203.71. There was $15,007.18 from the general fund
$1,118.25 from the building inspection fund, and
$73,078.28 from the road fund. There was a motion by
VanderMeulen/Harwood to pay the bills. All ayes.
