Supervisor Bergman
called the regular meeting of the Ensley Township Board
to order at 8:00 PM. The meeting was opened with the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a Prayer. Board
members present were Richard Bergman, Cynthia Harwood,
Faye Folkema, Steve Knox, and John Vander Meulen. There
were eight guests.
Minutes of Previous
Meeting:
The
minutes of December 6, 2005 were approved without
objection. The minutes of the special meeting of
December 29, 2005 were approved without objection.
Treasurers Report:

Receipts #4111-4142 were used totaling $24,297.54. The
treasurer’s Report was approved without objection.
Police Report:
There were six complaints, one citation, five warnings,
three property checks, two traffic accidents and he
assisted a motorist one time.
Building Inspector:
Boluyt
had one building permit and two electrical permits. For
the year of 2005, there were 66 building permits and 44
electrical permits.
Zoning Administrator:
There
was one zoning compliance given for the month.
County Commissioner
Report:
Powell
was not present.
Planning Commission:
The
annual report was given to the Board. Mr. Starr would
like to meet every month as they will be working on the
Master Plan and the zoning needs updating. He would
like to have the planner come to at least six meetings.
There was a motion by Vander Meulen/Knox that the lawyer
stated we should get all the information from the
planner we could for the planning commission for them to
review and decide if we need a moratorium on site
condominiums until the ordinance is updated. All ayes.
Motion carried. Vander Meulen/Folkema to allow the
planning commission to have the planner the January 30
meeting to bring us information on site condominiums and
also on fences for the 22 Mile and Algoma problem along
with information on dog kennels. All ayes. Motion
carried.

Occupancy Permit Escrow:
This will be discussed next month.
2.
Demolition
Escrow:
Motion by Bergman/Knox to set the escrow at $700.00 and
put on the fee schedule. Four ayes and one nay
(Folkema). Motion carried.
3.
Assessor’s
Requirements:
There was a motion by Folkema/Vander Meulen to have the
clerk add the new requirements to the present contract
and send it to the Board and Max for comments before the
next meeting. All ayes. Motion carried.

Workshop Date:

Dog
Kennels:
They are currently not allowed in
agriculture/residential districts. The zoning
administrator will be enforcing this as of today. The
Planning Commission will discuss this as they have
allowed several within the township.
3.
Road
Project 2006:
Knox/Folkema made a motion to do Elm from 112th
to 104th Street. All ayes. Motion carried.
4.
Phonebook-Newaygo County:
Ensley
Township is left out of the Newaygo County Phonebook.
Harwood will send a letter to Pioneer that we would like
to be included in the book and that they say the book
covers all of Newaygo County, and it does not.
Bills:
Checks $9947-9970 were used totaling $77,927.21.
General Operating Fund was $10,113.65 (Escrow was
$1,238.90 with $500.00 from E-Z Living Homes, $108.80
from Brass Mar and $630.10 from Roosien), Road Fund
$67,054.28 and $759.28 from the Building Inspection
Fund. There was a motion by Folkema/Vander Meulen to
pay the bills. All ayes. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
Deputy Roesler from the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office
would like to have office hours at the hall on Fridays
from 1:00 to 1:30 PM. There was a motion by
Bergman/Harwood to allow the deputy access. All ayes.
