The treasurer’s report was
approved without objection. There will be a new account opened for summer
taxes so this money is totally kept separate from other tax collecting
monies. There was a motion by Bergman, supported by Harwood to cash in
CD#3 to pay for the summer road projects. All ayes. Motion carried.
There was a motion by Bergman,
supported by VanderMeulen to clarify the names on the bank accounts so
they are descriptive of what the accounts are actually for. All ayes.
Motion carried.
Police Report:
Deputy Stabile gave his
report.
Building Inspector:
On Vacation: He had nine
building permits and five electrical permits.
Zoning Inspector:
Evens had ten zoning
compliances and four land splits.
Planning Commission:
VanderMeulen reported the
reasons why they turned down the Special Use Application for Gary
Wolters. The Planning Commission will recommend approval to the
Township Board when he has made changes to the site plan package.

Old Business:
1.
Crandall Cemetery-Heiss Violation: There was a motion by Bergman,
supported by VanderMeulen to send a letter to Dave Heiss that the rules
are posted and he needs to conform to the rules of the cemetery. All
ayes. Motion carried.
2.
Crandall Cemetery- Electric Violation: We had an estimate from
ARK’s Electric of $1,162.00. Bergman will check with Ella Mae Mosher to
find out if the Cemetery Assn. has any money to put toward the electric.
3.
ES&G: Bergman gave an update on the court case. There was a
motion by Bergman, supported by VanderMeulen that we have the attorney
file an injunction with the court. Roll call vote: Patin, VanderMeulen,
Harwood and Bergman all voted aye. Folkema abstained. Motion passed.
4.
Ensley Baptist Church/Township-Property Transfer: The Church
approved the transfer of the property and is working on the paperwork.
New Business:
1.
Culvert-Hemlock Avenue: There is a hole in a 24” culvert on
Hemlock that the county wants us to pay for. There was a motion by
Folkema, supported by Harwood to try to persuade the county to use a
smaller pipe. If not, we authorize the spending of $300.00 for the
repair. All ayes. Motion carried.
2.
Board of Review: They meet on July 22 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for
errors and omissions.
3.
Audit Report: Bergman read the letter from the auditor that stated
our records were in good order.
4.
Zoning Administrator-fill in: James Welty is interested in helping
Evens out if he needs to have surgery. There was a motion by Folkema,
supported by Harwood that James Welty be considered as zoning
administrator if needed and Evens train him to fill in. All ayes. Motion
carried.
5.
Master Plan – Survey: The Planning Commission needs to be working
on making a survey for updating the Master Plan. Motion by Bergman,
supported by Folkema to send this to the Planning Commission that we would
like the master plan updated. All ayes. Motion carried.
6.
Newsletter: We plan on having it out the end of July or the first
of August.
Bills:
Checks #8943-8974 were used
totaling $54,500.17. General Operating Fund $15,976.55, Road Fund
$36,600.00 and Building Fund $1,923.62. Motion by Folkema, supported by
VanderMeulen to pay the bills. All ayes. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
There was a motion by
Bergman, supported by Folkema not to purchase the 2002 Public & Local
Acts Published. All ayes. Motion carried.
