Board
was

to order
at 8:00
PM by
Supervisor
Knox.
The
meeting
was
opened
with the
Pledge
of
Allegiance
to the
Flag and
a
Prayer.
Board
members
present
were
Steve
Knox,
Cynthia
Harwood,
Faye
Folkema,
Joann
VandenBerg,
and John
VanderMeulen.
There
were
Steve
Boluyt-Building
Administrator,
and four
guests
in
attendance.
Minutes
of
Previous
Meeting:
The
minutes
of
February
5, 2008
was
approved
without
objection.
It was
noted
that the
Board of
Review
had its
organizational
meeting
on March
4.

made the
motion
to
accept
the
treasurer’s
report.

Inspector:
There
were no
building
permits
and two
electrical
permits
for the
month of
February.
Zoning
Administrator:
There
was a
motion
by Knox/VanderMeulen
to have
Phillip
Starr,
Keith
Bouwkamp,
and Bob
Hall
attend
two -
MSU
Citizen
Planner
classes.
Bob
Hall’s
education
will be
partially
reimbursed
by other
townships.

County
Commissioner
Report:
Mr.
Powell
was not
in
attendance.
Planning
Commission
Report:
They
discussed
the
by-laws
and the
master
plan.
Public
Comment:

Business:
1.
Park
Attendant:
Jeanette
VanderHaag
will
clean
the park
this
coming
summer
for the
same
price as
last
year.
There
was a
motion
by Knox/VandenBerg
to give
the park
attendant
job to
her.

ayes,
motion
carried.
2.
Fire
Department
Donation:
There
was a
motion
by
VanderMeulen/Harwood
to
donate
$1,500
for
rescue
equipment.
All
ayes,
motion
carried.
3.
Dust
Control
&
Reseal:
There
was
discussion
about
the
amount
of brine
used per
mile and
the
cost.
There
was a
motion
by
VanderMeulen/Folkema
to have
Deur do
three
applications
of brine
at 3,500
gallons
per
mile.
All
ayes,
motion
carried.
Reseal
is
expected
to cost
$17,000
per
mile.
The
township
cost
shares
with the
county
50/50.
We have
approximately
$45,755.32
left for
re-seal
or
wedging.
4.
Perpetual
Care
Funds:
Harwood/VandenBerg
made a
motion
to have
the
treasurer
go with
VandenBerg
and
Harwood
to the
bank and
sign
over the
perpetual
care
funds.
The
checking
and
savings
need to
be in a
township
savings
account
and put
the
treasurer’s
name on
the
CD’s.
Recommendations
need to
be made
from the
bank and
the
township
accountant.
The
reason
for this
change
is so
the
funds
are
handled
by a
bonded
and
insured
township
employee.
The same
rules
apply
that the
principle
funds
are not
spent,
only the
interest.

Offer:
Folkema
left the
table.
Everyone
received
a copy
of a
letter
from the
Ensley
Sand &
Gravel
attorney
with a
settlement
offer.
There
was a
motion
by
Harwood/VanderMeulen
to
reject
their
offer as
presented.
There
was a
roll
call
vote:
VandenBerg,
VanderMeulen,
Harwood
and Knox
voted
aye.
The
motion
passed.
Folkema
returned
to the
table.

Dog
Clinic
Update:
In 2007
there
were 75
dog
shots
and 81
licenses.
This
year
there
were 88
dog
shots
and 111
licenses.
3.
Enforcement
Officer
Job
Description:
There
was a
motion
by
Folkema/VandenBerg
to
accept
the job
description
as
presented
by the
Township
attorney.
There
was a
roll
call
vote
where
all
voted
aye.
Bills:
Checks

were
used
totaling
$13,042.39.
General
Operating
Fund was
$12,571.32
and
$471.07
was from
the
Building
Inspection
Fund.
There
was a
motion
by
