Ensley Township Board Meeting

Minutes of March 20, 2006

Supervisor Bergman called the special meeting of the Ensley Township Board to order at 1:04 PM.  The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and a prayer.  Board members present were Richard Bergman, Cynthia Harwood, Faye Folkema, Steve Knox and John VanderMeulen.  There were 2 guests plus the applicants.

Unfinished Business:

            1.  Zoning Administrator Position:  There was discussion about the hours the new zoning administrator will hold.

            2.  Assessor Position: The letters of interest were gone through.  There was a motion by Harwood/VanderMeulen to set up an interview for Jason Rosenzweig and Jeanne LaVallee.  All ayes.  Motion carried.  Motion by Bergman/VanderMeulen to have the interviews on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 8:00 PM.  All Ayes.  Motion carried.

            3.  Interviews:  Robert Ellick, Robert Hall, Thomas Eckenberg, and Joseph Montambo were interviewed.  Availability to do the job was often a problem.  Montambo withdrew his letter.  There was a motion by VanderMeulen, supported by Knox to offer the zoning administrator position to Robert Hall with the hours:  Tuesday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Thursday 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  This would be for a 90-day trial period.  He will work with Evens on Thursday, March 23 and on March 30.  He will take over on April 4.  Harwood will have an agreement for him to sign concerning wages, hours, and noting the 90-day trial period.  She will also send letters to the other three applicants.  Robert Ellick is the next choice if Hall does not work out.

            4.  McKay’s Repair Service:  There was discussion about McKay not wanting a car crusher, as this is considered a type of distressed vehicle transporter and is part of the license.  There was a motion by Bergman/Knox that the license be signed by Evens with the stipulatation there would be no car crusher – own one or use one on their property and this stipulation stays with McKay’s property.  Roll call vote:  all ayes.  Motion carried.  The clerk will type this up and have it ready for them on Thursday, March 23 at 10:00 AM.  Evens and McKay will sign

Adjourn:  The meeting adjourned at 3:15 PM.
