Ensley Nature Preserve
Board Minutes
November 17, 2011
The Ensley Nature
Preserve met at the township hall, November 17, 2011. The meeting
was called to order and prayer at 7:35 pm. Boluyt, absent with
notice.
Minutes and agenda
approved, with a correction in the minutes to delete the line “of
the seasons at ENP” under Old Business.
Reports:
Finance report
reviewed with payment of $600. 00 for parking lot gravel and
$20.15 for T-Shirts approved. Approval was given to reimburse
Ron Norquist fuel costs to level gravel, remove stumps, and
prepare the Twelve Oaks Children’s Center for work.
Vander Meulen is
still trying to reestablish contact with the donor for electric
poles. It was noted that a tree is down on the trail and needs
removal.
Smelik provided a
bench update with a new site map for new bench locations, and
location of new trail to be worked on for spring.
Old Business:
The central trail
bridge is completed and ready for use. Many thanks to our
generous donors for this addition that is also handicap
accessible.
All T-shirt orders
are in, they are available at the town hall.
Star said there is
no news on the progress for the township recreation plan from
Ryan Coffey.
New Business:
ENP board
appointments, Boluyt and Smelik are up for reappointment. Starr
and Bird will submit the names of Alvin Smelik and Marion
Schestag for appointment.
Members of the
Providence Christian High School National Honors Society have
volunteered for spring work at ENP.
Winter Walk will
be held again in February. We will check dates for full moon.
News notices to be posted two weeks in advance. Bird and Vander
Meulen to work on developing posters for the event. Smelik
suggested we plan an alternative to lighting the trails to the
milk containers and glow lights used last year.
Next meeting will
be the ENP Christmas gathering December 15, 2011, held at the
Vander Meulen’s. 7:00pm, pot luck and bring a gag gift.
