Tri County and Grant School Elections to be Held at Fire Barn

The State of Michigan has adopted legislation whereby all school elections are held at the local township poling location.

For Grant and Tri County School District residents, they are to be held at the fire barn.  There are thirty registered voters in the Cedar Springs School District.  They will vote at the Solon Township Hall.

The State is trying to make voting easier for the citizens by always going to the same location to vote.  There should not be a question as where to go to vote.

There is the case of just too few voters to make it economically advantageous to hold their election, as is the case of Cedar Springs Schools District residents.

We will also have some Solon Residents from Grant School District voting here.

The first election will be held on February 22.  This is for the Montcalm Community College millage renewal.  Only Tri County residents are to vote.

New voter ID cards are being printed that show your voting location.

Master Plan Committee Gets Started

The purpose of the Master Land Use Plan is to project future direction for the physical growth trends and public needs for you, as an Ensley Township resident.  Master Plans have been called “imperfect constitutions,”  they are imperfect because they must be updated periodically to reflect new studies and trends in urban development. However, it is also a constitution in the since that the validity of zoning ordinances and rezoning will depend on whether the ordinances conform to this master plan.

The Master Plan Committee has begun reviewing data to determine if the township followed previous projections, and develop a survey to gauge the needs of our community.  The Master Plan Committee needs your help.

Your involvement in filling out the future survey, adding comments or observations and attending meetings give the Master Plan tools to work with

The more participation from you, as residents, by filling out the survey, the more closely the Master Plan will be a plan from the people who live in Ensley Township.

Dog Clinic Planned

This year’s dog clinic will be held at the Fire Barn on Saturday, February 26 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  Dr. Todd is the veterinarian from the “Country Vet.” who will be administering the shots.  License fees are $6.00 for a one year tag for an unsexed dog, and $15.00 for a one year tag for a sexed dog.  A three year license is $15.00 for an unsexed dog and $40.00 for a sexed dog.  There are rabies shots available for $8.00 and  the distemper series is $12.00.

This is an excellent time to get your dog’s license  and shots.

Newaygo County Sheriff’s Township Patrol—A Community Event

The Township Patrol program has a positive impact on reducing neighborhood crime, helping to reduce fear of crime and enhancing the quality of life in the community.  It accomplishes these things by combining the efforts and resources of the police, local government and community members.

Get involved!  As law enforcement officers, we recognize the value of bringing the people back into the policing process.  All elements of society must pull together as never before if we are to deal effectively with the unacceptable level of crime claiming our neighborhoods.

Problem solving begins with listening to the local residents who can identify the specific concerns that community members feel are most threatening to their safety and well-being.  These areas of concern then become priorities for joint police-community interventions.

If you are interested in taking an active roll in the fight against crime in your community, contact Deputy Stabile and ask how you, as a member of the community, can assist in addressing the problems of concern to you in your neighborhood.  Please join us at the monthly Township meetings and Crime Watch meetings.  Crime Watch begins at 7:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month.

Crandall Cemetery Improvements

Many limbs have been trimmed. A couple of trees will be removed this spring and more trimming will be done.  The well has been damaged by a fallen tree, and this should also be repaired in the spring.
