Clean - Up Days
Ensley Township will be hosting it’s annual clean-up days on Friday,
April 16 and Saturday, April 17 from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the
township hall. This is for township residents only. There is no
charge for rubbish, furniture, scrap metal, building materials, (no
concrete) or fuel oil tanks that are cut in half. There is a charge
for batteries, appliances, propane tanks, and tires. Truck or tractor
tires must be cut into four pieces.
There is a new rule this year.
No shovel offs or loose trash allowed.
It must be bagged, boxed, in a barrel, or do not bring it. This is to
save time when unloading and also to keep the grounds cleaner.
Public Safety
The fire department has reported that there has been an increase in
calls to the Ensley area. There are more calls for medical runs and
fewer for fire calls.
This year, for the first time in several years, there was a
slight increase in the amount that we pay in our contract for fire
protection.
The police department has been quite busy with drug related
problems. Speeding seems to be down, as well as other crimes. Even
our park had less problems last summer.
Boca Code
There are some changes that will take effect in June. Please
call Steve Boluyt for information.
Election News
This is the year that your township board is up for re-election. If
you or anyone you know would like to run for a position on the board,
please contact Cindy Harwood to get a petition and the other necessary
forms before May 11th.
Baptist Lake
This next summer, there will be a new flag pole at the Baptist Lake
Park! There will also be a couple new tables and some work done to
clean up by the boat ramp.
Englewright Lake
There will be no dredging done this year in the lake. It is scheduled
to be sprayed again this summer
Millage Vote
The three-mill road millage is up this year. We are asking that the
voters approve it for another four years. This money is used for
rebuilding roads as well as blacktopping new roads and resurfacing
roads in poor condition.
We will also be discussing the possibility of asking the
taxpayers to consider a new “Public Safety” millage of one mill to
help insure public safety in the event of a loss of revenue sharing.
This one mill would generate about $50,000.00 each year. For 2004,
the township is receiving approximately $20,000 less than 2003. This
means cuts in the township’s ability to maintain the present levels of
services.
Summer Road Work
This summer Cottonwood from 120th to 128th Street will be
reconstructed. Beech Avenue from 104th to 112th Street will be
blacktopped. Wedging will be done on 22 Mile by Baldwin Lake for
about 1,000 feet, and 104th Street from Locust to the township line.
The roads to be resealed are: 98th Street from Beech to the gravel,
128th Street from Newcosta to Balsam, 22 Mile Road from Locust to Elm,
136th Street from Locust to Juniper and Beech from 104th to 98th
Street.
