Township
Board
was
called
to order
at 8:00
PM by
Supervisor
Starr.
The
meeting
was
opened
with the
Pledge
of
Allegiance
to the
Flag and
a
Prayer.
Board
members
present
were
Phillip
Starr,
Cynthia
Harwood,
Faye
Folkema,
Brenda
Bird,
and John
VanderMeulen.
There
were
three
guests
in
attendance.
Minutes
of
Previous
Meetings:
There
was a
motion
by Bird/VanderMeulen
to
approve
the
Minutes
of
October
6,
2009.

Affirmed.

Report:

There
was a
motion
by
VanderMeulen/Harwood
to
accept
the
treasurer’s

Zoning
Administrator:
There
were
five
zoning
compliances
issued
for the
month.
There
was a
motion
by
Folkema/Bird
to pay
one half
the cost
of MSU
cost for
training.

affirmed.
Planning
Commission:
They are
working
on a
plan for
the
coming
year to
review
the
ordinances
of the
Township.
Forest
Committee:
They
are
working
on a
flyer to
put in
the
newsletter.
They are
also
working
on
festivities
for
Arbor
Day.
Building
Inspector:
There
were
five
building
permits
and one
electrical
permit
issue
for the
month.
Public
Comment:
8:28 to
8:34.
Jane
Drake
introduced
herself
as
running
for
State
Representative.
Unfinished
Business:

Crandall
Cemetery
Statue:
There
was a
motion
by
Harwood/Starr
to stay
with our
original
decision
of
having
the
statue
removed
within
30
days. 4
ayes and
one nay
(Bird).
Motion
carried.
Harwood
will
send a
letter.
New
Business:
1.
Newsletter:
We are
planning
a
newsletter
to come
our the
end of
January
or first
part of
February.
2.
Mowing
Contract:
Phil
Butler
met with
Phil
Starr
and Gary
Butler
to
decide
on what
to have
Phil
Butler
clean up
for this
fall.
The
contract
was
discussed
and it
was
decided
to make
contractual
payments
eight
months a
year
rather
than six
times
per
year.
The date
for
removal
of
flowers
was
changed
to
November
1 and
trimming
the
ditches/banks
was
added.
3.
Top Soil
for
Cemeteries:
There
was a
motion
by
Folkema,
seconded
by
VanderMeulen
to call
Ron
Norquist
and get
a
reasonable
amount
of top
soil for
each
cemetery
and not
to go
over
$150.00
each.
All
affirmed.
Bills:
Checks
#11455-11478
were
used
totaling
$10,163.63.
The
General
Fund was
$9,549.22,
and the
Building
Inspection
Fund was
$614.41.
There
was a
motion
by
Folkema/VanderMeulen
to pay
the
bills.
All
affirmed.
Supervisor’s
Report:
Beech
/Butternut
was
finished
and was
reported
to have
come in
under
budget.
Correspondence:
Starr
and Bird
need to
complete
the NIMS
training
for the
township
to be
able to
receive
grants.
