The regular meeting of the
Ensley Township Board was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Supervisor
Bergman. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
and a prayer. Board members present were Richard Bergman, Cynthia Harwood,
Faye Folkema, John Patin and John VanderMeulen. There were 15 guests.
The minutes of August 5, 2003
were approved without objection
Treasurer’s Report:
General $183,535.69
Checking 3,347.82
Roads 35,951.05
CD #1 general 30,000.00
Total $252,834.56
Receipts #3496-3512 were used
totaling $3,065.90.
The treasurer’s report was
approved without objection.
Building Inspector Report:
There were seven building permits and four electrical permits issued.
Zoning Administrator Report:
Evens had two land splits and eleven zoning compliances for the month.
Planning Commission Report:
They will begin the process of updating the Master Plan when there are
volunteers to serve on the committee.
Public Comment: 8:20-8:22PM.
Old Business:
1.
Fire Barn Trees: There was a motion by Patin, supported by
Folkema to have a survey of the property done to make sure the trees are on
our property. All Ayes. Motion carried. Bergman is to contact Glen
Hackbardt for the survey.
2.
Town Hall Addition: There has been no confirmation of any grants
yet. Bergman is to check on the process of the grants.
New Business:
1.
Election Inspectors: The Clerk recommended Patricia Patin, Mary
Hyrns and Cindy Harwood to work on the November 4 election. All were
approved with unanimous vote.
2.
November Meeting Date: There was a motion by Folkema, supported
by VanderMeulen to change the November meeting date to Tuesday, November
11. The clerk will put notice on the door and publish the change. All
ayes. Motion carried.
3.
Don Sterling-Candidate: There was a motion by Bergman, supported
by Folkema to allow candidates to talk for five (5) minutes. All ayes.
Motion Carried. Sterling is a candidate for State Representative.
4.
L-4029 Approval: Evens reported on the millage rates. Patin made
a motion to approve the millage as presented. Harwood supported this. All
ayes. Motion carried.
Police Report: Deputy Stabile
reported that the last two months have been very busy with numerous
complaints within the township.
Culvert on 128th &
Butternut: There was a motion by VanderMeulen to bring up from the table to
reconsider putting in a culvert on 128th Street and Butternut.
This was supported by Folkema. One aye. Four Nays. Motion failed.
ES&G Bond: We are holding on
to the bond that we have until we get a new one in hand.
Bills: Checks #9018-9048 were
used totaling $21,898.99. General Operating Fund $20,323.64, Building
Inspection Fund $1,283.08, and Road Fund $292.27. Motion to pay bills by
Folkema, supported by Patin. All ayes, motion carried.
