Clerk Harwood called the
regular meeting of the Ensley Township Board to order at 8:00 PM. The
meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and
Prayer. Board members present were Cynthia Harwood, Faye Folkema,
John Patin, and John VanderMeulen. Richard Bergman was absent. There
were 13 guests.
There was a motion to
have VanderMeulen chair the meeting by Harwood. Folkema supported
this. All ayes. Motion carried.
The minutes of August
10, 2004 were approved as amended. The checking account should have
been $3,381.92 in the Treasurer’s Report. The Solon Center Wesleyan
Church was discussed during Correspondence.

Receipts #3747-3772 were
used totaling $4,342.37. There was a motion by VanderMeulen,
supported by Patin to accept the treasurer’s report. All ayes.
Motion carried. There was a motion by Folkema, supported by Patin to
renew the road CD for another three months. All ayes. Motion carried
Police Report: Stabile
was not in attendance, but he did leave his report. He patrolled 60
hours. There were 15 complaints, 2 arrests, 4 citations, 5 warnings,
6 property checks, 2 traffic accidents, 1 paper service and he was
assisted by other patrols one time.
Building Inspector:
Boluyt had 7 building permits and 7 electrical permits for the month.
He did receive one bid for the dry wall repair, but he is trying to
get a few more.
Zoning Administrator:
Evens had 12 zoning compliances. He did inspect Barber Creek Gravel
Pit on August 12, 2004.
Planning Commission:
Public hearing for Eckelstaffer will be held next month as some
neighbors did not get the notice. They are also working on the
Dangerous Building Ordinance.

1.
L-4029: Evans reported on millage rates. Folkema made a
motion, supported by Harwood to approve the millage as presented. All
ayes. Motion carried.
2.
Insurance Limits: Burnham & Flower sent a letter suggesting
that the liability limits be raised. There was a motion by Patin,
supported by Folkema to leave the limits as they are. All ayes.
Motion carried.
3.
Tree-Behind Hall: There are limbs that are rubbing against
the roof. This will be discussed next month so everyone can look at
them.
Bills: Checks
#9411-9441 were used totaling $68,221.78. General Operating Fund
$49,007.02 (including $54.60 escrow) Road Fund $16,918.22, and
Building Inspection Fund $2,296.54. There was a motion by Patin,
supported by Folkema to pay the bills. All ayes. Motion carried.
Correspondence: It was
noted that the county has an opening on the Parks and Rec. Comm. and
the Planning Commission.
Public Comment: There
was a question on publishing minutes. This will be addressed next
month. There was discussion on the roads breaking on the edges.
Adjourn: There was a
motion to adjourn at 9:00 PM by Patin, supported by Folkema. All
ayes.
