The regular
meeting of the Ensley Township Board was called to order at 7:30 PM
by Supervisor Starr. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag and a Prayer. Board members present
were Phillip Starr, Cynthia Harwood, Faye Folkema, Brenda Bird, and
John VanderMeulen. There were nine guests in attendance.
Approval of
Agenda: There was a motion by Harwood, seconded by Folkema to
approve the agenda with the addition of the County Commissioner
report. All affirmed
Minutes of
Previous Meetings:
There was a motion by VanderMeulen/ Harwood to approve the Minutes
of August 10, 2010 All Affirmed.

Receipts #5457-5481 were used totaling $1,071.98. There was a motion

Inspector:
Mr. Boluyt had six building and one electrical permit issued.
Planning
Commission:
Marijuana ordinance was discussed and a public hearing is scheduled
for next month. Main Street Planning was at the meeting and
they will have a meeting with the business owners on 9/15/2010.
Nature
Preserve:
There was no meeting this month. There was a motion by Starr,
seconded by Bird to authorize the Nature Preserve to get a porta-john
if they feel it necessary. All affirmed.
County
Commissioner:
The county budget has been approved without any drastic cuts.

New Business:
1. Town
Hall Computer:
Starr/Folkema moved to authorize Harwood and Verduin to work on
getting a new computer for the town hall with specifications
requested by Verduin. All ayes, motion carried.
2.
Approval of L-4029:
There was a motion by Folkema, seconded by Harwood to approve
the L-4029 millage rate. All affirmed.
3. Auditor: There was a motion by Bird, seconded by
Starr to use Lake Michigan CPA Services
for the audit. All affirmed.
Unfinished
Business:
1.
Grant Library Attorney Issue:
There is not enough time to get the millage on the ballot for Tri
County residents. KDL will write a letter to the TC residents
explaining the cut off of all services. Grant Library and
Ensley Township both use Law Weathers attorneys. There was a
motion by Bird, seconded by VanderMeulen to keep our attorney and
sign the agreement. There were four ayes and one nay
(Folkema.) Motion carried.
Bills:
Checks #11762 - 11790 used totaling $18,939.83. The General
Fund was 17,859.98 and the Building Inspection Fund was $1,079.85.
Supervisor’s
Report:
Fred Patin voluntarily brush hogged the Crandall Cemetery on the
west end. Folkema moved to put the tree trimming and tree
removal of the three places out for bids and snow removal and the
notice of the cemetery clean-up in the paper. All ayes, motion
carried.
